Graph

Graph theory and combinatorics

A set of vertices together with a set of edges, each edge joining a pair of vertices.

What is usually left out

A graph need not be connected, and in this sense "graph" has nothing to do with the plotted curves the word usually names. Two vertices are adjacent when an edge joins them and connected when some path joins them — a distinction that is easy to blur and changes what several definitions mean.
